• The existing legacy solution produced thirteen thousand pages of monthly green-bar reports and the company needed a more user-friendly way of extracting reports.

Fiancial Services Company: Solution

• A Data Warehouse solution from Cognos to supportits operational activities.
• During the first phase of the project, MSS replicated data from the AS/400 to a Microsoft SQL Server database to store that data warehouse information.
• Developed an Intranet environment using Visual basic and SQL Server that would replace the paper distribution system for corporate users.
• Implemented Cognos reporting Cognos PowerPlay and Cognos Impromptu, which are used to analyze data stored on the server.

• The end solution provided the company with an automated solution that reduced expenses by electronically distributing reports versus the manual effort it required previously.
• After the implementation, users were able to make better decisions based upon their ability to “slice and dice” the data using the Cognos and Microsoft solutions.
