An Insurance Company, which provides vehicle warranties on both new and used cars as well as motorcycles, does not just provide programs for its dealers – it forms partnerships with them. Paying claims within an average of 2 days, and providing lucrative dealer incentive programs are just two of the advantages the company offers.   • The company ran its business on two Oracle databases – one supporting E-Business Suite and the other a custom application unique to its business.
  • Many processes were manual in the custom applications, and the interfaces that existed were error prone and required caring and feeding with each run.
  • The company was looking to streamline its processes and reduce the errors on the interfaces.
 

EBS to Improve Business Processes: Solution

  • The company partnered with MSS to analyze where problems existed and to develop a deployable solution that would improve business processes and reduce overhead cost of manual intervention.
  • After performing a Discovery phase, MSS had a comprehensive list of where the problems were occurring and began to analyze how to reduce the issues.
  • The solutions were devised based on the frequency of the problem and the complexity of any changes needed to be made to the custom application.
  • Some of the solutions were as simple as re-training the staff to reconcile systems in the order in which they interface, making problem easier to spot.
  • The Insurance Company was retrained to identify where the out of balance situation occurred, as opposed to reconciling the first system to the final system (Custom to GL vs. Custom to AP, AP to GL).
  • This determined that the problem was not in the custom application as originally thought, but in the GL.
  • Other solutions included new reports providing the data needed..
  • The most complicated problems were related to Supplier Master Integrity, and new processes and interfaces to keep the two systems in synch, reducing the error processing and manual setups, streamlining daily check creation.

  • By looking at the whole picture, and final results, as opposed to each little problem as an isolated case, a clear picture was obtained, and more streamlined solutions were developed with lower costs.
  • MSS was able to user its extensive business experience and was able to understand these interrelationships, and leverage a comprehensive solution, saving programming and man hours during and after the project.
